Introduction: Selecting and wearing a handwoven designer scarf for Autumn Winter 2025

As the leaves turn and the air begins to feel a little crisper in the mornings we know that Autumn is on its way followed by the colder Winter months. Despite the chill there is no need to feel cold this winter with a handwoven wool scarf providing stylish on trend warmth.

A handwoven scarf is a timeless wardrobe accessory yet within the choice of woven scarves, shawls and snoods in my website shop there are accessories which dovetail into this year's trends with respect to design, texture and colour. Of course, my hope is that a handwoven scarf won't just be for this season with a luxury designer scarf ideally becoming a wardrobe staple for years to come. This blog details how to pick a handwoven designer scarf that aligns beautifully with the Autumn - Winter 2025 trends.

Embrace the Autumn - Winter 2025 colour trends when selecting a handwoven winter scarf

Bright accents are on trend

Alongside neutrals, designers are injecting saturated pops of colour into their collections this year. Accessories are a great way of animating a winter wardrobe. Winter days can feel a little grey and subdued but a pop of colour around the neck instantly adds cheer and energy providing contrast to an outfit and turning a simple outfit into a statement look.

Bold Blues including a midnight navy scarf are a versatile choice

A blue scarf is a common choice and this year's trends with respect to blue is midnight blue. Midnight blue is a classic shade that feels luxurious and refined, offering a sophisticated alternative to black whilst still being versatile. Navy complements brighter accent colours making it easy to style with the coats and knitted jumpers you already own.

Rich plum shades

A plum scarf combines the depth of deep purple with a hint of warmth, making it feel indulgent, elegant and perfect for the colder months. Shades of purple are a highlight for Autumn and Winter 2025 colour forecasts making a plum scarf both fashionable and stylish. Plum pairs beautifully with grey, navy and black making it suitable for both everyday wear and more formal evening occasions.

A Pastel Pink scarf is a lovely choice for a Winter scarf

A pastel pink scarf brings a gentle, feminine touch to winter dressing softening heavier outerwear with a hint of delicacy. Against dark coats or jumpers the pastel pink adds a lightness and charm creating a beautifully balanced look. Pastel pink never really goes out of style and is elegant enough for a classic winter wardrobe.

Vibrant tones of orange and mustard yellow

A bright yellow scarf brings vibrancy to the greyest of days and is a stand out accessory that catches the eye and pairs beautifully with midnight navy, grey or black. A yellow scarf is the ultimate winter pick me up providing an accessory which says bold, vibrant and full of energy.

Patterned scarves continue to reign

Carrying over from earlier seasons, patterned scarves remain dynamic statement accessories. Forecasts highlight bold prints, designs and patterns including abstract designs allowing the wearer to express individuality.

Plaid and Tartan Designs

At Copenhagen fashion week, plaid was one of the most prominent and impactful designs. Plaids and Tartan patterns have a long history in fashion and this season, designers are reinventing them in bold colours and updated scales making them feel fresh and contemporary. The intersecting lines of colour create texture and dimension, making scarves a focus point without overwhelming an outfit.

New ways of wearing a scarf

Scarves, worn as belts, headscarves and new ways of wearing are predicted to be big this Autumn and Winter. Scarves are no long just functional they are key elements of layered outfits. Wrapping, draping or knotting scarves in innovative ways adds a new dimension to your wardrobe.

A bright accessory fits with the Maximalism trend

Maximalism is all about embracing colour, pattern and texture without restraint. Fashion this season is confidently flamboyant, embracing plush textures and mixing prints and designs and bold statement layering. Pairing a patterned scarf with other layers, coats, knitwear or even a second scarf creates depth and visual interest in line with maximalism. Maximalism celebrates individuality and wearing a bright patterned scarf allows you to inject personality into your outfit showing bold creativity and flair.

Benefits of Layering with a Scarf

Visual impact

A scarf layered over a coat or sweater introduces colour, print, and dimension to your outfit, whether it’s a neutral beige sweater or a bold plaid jacket.

Adaptable styling: Layered scarves aren't just for warmth—they can be tied, draped, belted, or looped to shift your look from elegant to edgy in seconds.

Comfort and practicality: Layering scarves add functional warmth without compromising style, making them perfect for transitioning between indoor and outdoor environments.
