What fibres are used in Emma Baker scarves and shawls?

Most scarves and shawls are woven using soft merino lambswool or natural cotton. Some pieces also incorporate hand-spun yarn for extra texture. All fibres are chosen for their quality, softness and longevity.

Are the scarves machine washable?

Handwoven scarves should be hand-washed. Full care guidance is on the Care page.

How long does it take to weave a scarf by hand?

Each scarf takes many hours from warping the loom to the finished, washed piece. A complex patterned design in merino wool can take a full day or more to weave. This is why every piece is truly one of a kind.

What sizes are the shawls and scarves?

Sizes vary by design. Standard scarves are approximately 160–180 cm long and 25–35 cm wide. Shawls are larger, often around 180 cm × 70 cm. Dimensions are listed on each individual product page.

Do you offer gift wrapping?

Yes - every order is packed in a beautiful branded gift box with tissue paper, at no extra cost. Perfect for sending directly to the recipient.

Where are the scarves made?

All pieces are handwoven by Emma Baker in her studio in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England. Emma weaves on a traditional floor loom using techniques passed down through centuries of British textile craft.

Do you ship internationally?

Emma ships to the UK, USA and Canada. Delivery details and timings are listed on the Shipping and Returns page.

Are the scarves one of a kind?

Yes. Each scarf and shawl is a unique piece - When a piece sells, it is gone. If you love something, it's worth snapping it up.
