This pastel pink and white merino lambswool scarf is handwoven by Emma Baker in Salisbury, Wiltshire - entirely by hand, on a traditional floor loom. Soft, warm and genuinely one of a kind, it is a wearable piece of textile art.

Woven on a traditional 8-shaft floor loom, this scarf uses a complex deflected doubleweave structure - a technically demanding technique that creates the scarf's distinctive airy texture and delicate, intricate surface pattern. No two deflected doubleweave scarves are ever identical. This is a truly one-of-a-kind piece.  The pastel pink and white colourway is soft yet striking: feminine without being fussy, and versatile enough to work with a winter coat, a smart blazer, or a cashmere jumper. The palette has been chosen to complement fair, warm and cool skin tones alike.

How to care for a merino lambswool scarf

Merino and lambswool are natural, breathable fibres that are naturally odour-resistant and rarely need washing. To keep this scarf in beautiful condition:

  • Spot-clean small marks as needed with a damp cloth
  • Hand wash only — if a full wash is needed, wash very gently by hand in hand-hot water with minimal agitation
  • Do not wring — press gently between towels to remove excess water
  • Dry naturally, flat or on a hanger, away from direct heat
  • Press lightly with a cool iron if needed, using a pressing cloth

Treated with care, a quality merino lambswool scarf will last for many years.

FAQ's

What is deflected doubleweave?

Deflected doubleweave is an advanced weaving technique using an 8-shaft loom. Two separate layers of fabric are woven simultaneously, then allowed to 'deflect' or pull away from each other, creating an intricate three-dimensional surface texture. It is technically demanding, which is why so few weavers use it - and why no two finished pieces look alike.

Is this scarf itchy?

No. Merino wool and lambswool are both prized for their softness against the skin. Unlike coarser wools, merino fibres are fine enough not to cause irritation. This scarf is comfortable worn directly against the neck.

Is this scarf truly one of a kind?

Yes. Each scarf is woven individually on a floor loom, and the deflected doubleweave structure means that even if Emma set up an identical warp, the finished fabric would look different. Once this piece is sold, it cannot be replicated.

Does it come gift wrapped?

Yes. This scarf arrives in a gold-embossed, tissue-lined gift box - no additional wrapping needed.
