A handwoven tartan merino bow tie and matching cufflinks - both made from the same fabric, by Emma Baker in Salisbury
 
This gift set contains a self-tie bow tie and a pair of silver-plated cufflinks, both made from the same handwoven merino lambswool twill tartan fabric. The fabric was woven by Emma Baker on her Louet floor loom in Salisbury, Wiltshire. When worn together, the bow tie and cufflinks share the same woven tartan pattern - the same colour arrangement and the same twill structure in both pieces. This is a coordinated set in the fullest sense: not colour-matched, but fabric-matched.
 
The fabric
The tartan is an original Emma Baker design - not a standard clan or commercial tartan, but a colour combination chosen specifically to work as a wearable contemporary accessory. The fabric is woven in a twill structure on an 8-shaft floor loom using fine merino lambswool. After weaving, the fabric is washed to full and soften the merino fibres before being made up into the bow tie and cut and set into the silver-plated cufflink fittings.
