This snood is handwoven by Emma Baker on an 8-shaft floor loom in Salisbury, Wiltshire using a deflected doubleweave mosaic structure in fine merino lambswool. The mosaic pattern distributes the colours - dark pink, burgundy, beige, brown, blue and white across the fabric surface in geometric tile blocks, with the colour balance shifting depending on which face of the fabric is worn on the outside.
 
Reversible 
The snood is sewn with a French seam in a circle. Because the deflected doubleweave mosaic has a genuinely different colour balance on its two faces, the snood can be worn with different colourways at the front. The French seam gives both faces a clean finish. 
 
About the deflected doubleweave mosaic
The 8-shaft floor loom allows Emma to create the deflected doubleweave mosaic structure: the loom constructs two fabric layers simultaneously, with the weft threads periodically deflected between the layers to create the tile-like mosaic pattern. The result is a fabric with structure, warmth and a geometric surface character that is distinct from plain-weave snoods.

Care
Sponge-wash small marks with a damp cloth. If a full wash is needed, hand wash very gently in hand-hot water with minimal agitation. Rinse once. Press between towels to remove excess water and dry flat, away from direct heat. If pressing is needed, press lightly while still slightly damp. Do not machine wash, wring or tumble dry.
