This coordinated table setting is woven by Emma Baker on a floor loom in Salisbury, Wiltshire from 100% organic cotton (GOTS Certified) yarn in dark pink and natural. The Overshot weave - what creates the pattern
The table mats are woven using a 4-shaft Overshot structure with a 97-row repeat. Overshot is one of the oldest weave structures in the Western handweaving tradition: supplementary weft threads float over multiple warp threads to create raised, clearly defined geometric shapes on the surface of the fabric. The 97-row repeat produces a complex, fine-detail pattern - the repeat is long enough that the motif builds slowly across the cloth before beginning again, creating a flowing, intricate design rather than a simple block pattern.
