Woven on a traditional 8-shaft floor loom using a deflected doubleweave structure, this snood has a boldness of colour and a depth of texture that sets it apart from anything mass-produced.
What is deflected doubleweave?
Deflected doubleweave creates two layers of fabric on the loom simultaneously. The weave structure includes areas of long warp and weft floats; when the finished fabric is washed, differential shrinkage pulls these floats in different directions, creating a raised, soft-edged mosaic pattern across the surface. The effect is three-dimensional - the fabric gathers into small, irregular cushioned shapes - and develops slightly with every wash. The structure is also fully reversible: both sides of the snood are finished and wearable.

Hand wash gently in hand-hot water with minimal agitation. Rinse once. Press between towels to remove excess water and dry flat, away from direct heat. The deflected surface will continue to develop gently with subsequent washes. Do not machine wash, wring or tumble dry.
