Handwoven merino lambswool cufflinks in silver-plated fittings - made by Emma Baker in Salisbury

Each of these cufflinks has a face made from a small piece of Emma Baker’s handwoven merino lambswool fabric, set into a silver-plated toggle-back fitting. The handwoven fabric is the visible surface of the cufflink when the cuffs are fastened - the twill tartan colour pattern sits in the cufflink face.  Three colour variants are available.

Three colour variants

Blue and Orange: navy and blue warp with orange accent - works well with white and pale blue shirts, pairs with the blue/orange bow tie or tie for a fully coordinated look.

Green and Red: green warp with red accent - a bold, festive combination suited to white and cream shirts; particularly effective at Christmas or for a distinctive wedding look.  White and Red: natural/white warp with red accent - the most restrained of the three, works with almost any shirt colour and pairs with the white/red tie or bow tie.

The fabric

The cufflink face fabric was woven by Emma Baker on her Louet floor loom in Salisbury, Wiltshire using fine merino lambswool in a twill tartan design. After weaving, the fabric was washed to full and soften the merino fibres before being cut and set into the silver-plated fittings. The twill structure gives the fabric a slight diagonal texture that catches the light in the cufflink face.

When to wear them

A formal dinner, a wedding - as a guest or as a groomsman, a prom, a graduation ceremony, a significant work occasion, or any event where a double-cuff shirt is being worn. For a groom who wants a wedding accessory that is genuinely handmade by a local maker in Wiltshire rather than bought from a commercial accessories supplier, these offer something no high street cufflink can.

A gift at £35

At £35 for silver-plated cufflinks with a handwoven merino face, these are well-positioned as a Father’s Day gift, a best man present, a groom’s gift from the bride, a groomsman gift, or a birthday gift for a man who wears formal shirts. They arrive in a cufflink gift box. For a coordinated set, the matching bow tie (£45) and men’s tie are also available separately.

Care

The silver-plated fittings can be wiped clean with a soft dry cloth. The handwoven merino wool face should not be submerged in water. If spot cleaning is needed, use a barely damp cloth very gently on the fabric face and allow to air dry fully before wearing.
