The Making of It
Weaving a scarf of this size takes significant time. The warp - the vertical threads that run the length of the loom must be individually measured, threaded, and tensioned before a single weft thread is passed through. The tartan pattern is built by alternating the navy, green, red and white threads in a precise sequence across both the warp and the weft, so that the characteristic checked design emerges from the structure of the weave itself rather than being printed or applied.
