A handwoven cotton snood in purple and hand-dyed teal - three alternating 2/2 twill patterns, wool-free, made by Emma Baker in Salisbury
This cosy snood scarf is woven by Emma Baker on her Louet floor loom in Salisbury, Wiltshire using 100% cotton yarn. It is soft to the touch with an elegant, fluid drape that cotton produces naturally and is easy to wear - simply pop over your head for an instant look.
Dimensions: 28cm x 74cm - sewin in a circle with a french seam
Three alternating 2/2 twill patterns
The weave structure across the shawl alternates between three different 2/2 twill patterns in 3cm bands. In a 2/2 twill, the weft threads pass over two warp threads and under two in a staggered sequence, creating the characteristic diagonal texture of twill weave. By using three different twill arrangements in bands, each strip has a slightly different diagonal direction or arrangement, creating a structured, varied surface across the full width of the shawl. The warp is purple and hand-dyed teal cotton; the weft is purple with a range of complementary colours.
