This infinity cowl is handwoven by Emma Baker on a Louet 8-shaft floor loom in Salisbury, Wiltshire using DK cotton yarn in pink, blue and white. After weaving, the fabric is washed and pressed, then sewn with a single twist before the ends are joined to create the infinity twist.
 
The infinity twist - why it drapes differently
An infinity cowl is sewn with a half-twist in the fabric before the ends are joined. This creates a loop that has no distinct ‘inside’ or ‘outside’ face: when worn, the twist produces a natural, slightly asymmetric drape that a plain loop snood does not have. The fabric curves and fans around the neck rather than hanging flat. It sits closer to the neck at one point and spreads more openly at another, creating a flattering, sculptural shape with minimal effort.
 
All-season and wool-free
Cotton is naturally breathable and comfortable against the skin in a way that wool is not. This cowl is an all-season accessory - warm enough to add comfort on a cool day, light enough to wear in spring and autumn when a merino snood would be too much. It is entirely wool-free, making it suitable for people who prefer cotton or who have sensitivities to wool.
