A handwoven navy, blue and yellow twill merino snood - three variants including a slim infinity twist with repurposed merino panel, made by Emma Baker in Salisbury
 
This snood is woven by Emma Baker on a Louet floor loom in Salisbury, Wiltshire using fine merino lambswool in navy, blue and yellow tones. The design is a twill - the diagonal interlacing of the twill structure creates directional lines within each colour block, giving the fabric a subtle texture and depth that plain weave cannot produce. After weaving, the fabric was washed to full and carefully finished.
 
Three variants - choose your style
 
Variant A  - Full Width Loop (41cm × 72cm)  A generous 41cm-wide snood sewn in a circle with a concealed seam. The full width gives a substantial, warm drape around the neck. Classic snood construction.
 
Variant B - Full Width Loop (41cm × 72cm)  Same dimensions as Variant A. Both come from the same woven cloth; the colour balance in the twill pattern may vary slightly between the two depending on which section of the fabric was used.
 
Variant C - Slim Infinity Twist with Repurposed Merino Panel (19cm × 73cm)  A significantly narrower snood sewn with an infinity twist - a half-twist in the fabric before the ends are joined, creating a flowing Möbius-like loop that drapes naturally at the neck. At 19cm this sits closer to a fitted cowl than a wide snood. The join incorporates a panel of repurposed blue knitted merino lambswool fabric, which provides stretch and a second life for existing material. Distinctive from Variants A and B in both construction and wearing character.
