This infinity snood is woven by Emma Baker on a floor loom in Salisbury, Wiltshire using an Overshot structure in 100% cotton doubleknit yarn. The Overshot design creates a structured, geometric pattern across the surface of the snood in navy blue, pink and pale pastel shades. The colour balance shifts as the snood turns: worn one way, navy dominates; rotate it slightly, and the pale pastel or pink moves to the front. This makes it one of the most wearing-versatile snoods in the collection.
 
The Overshot structure in a wearable accessory
Overshot is one of the oldest supplementary weft weave structures in the Western handweaving tradition - the same structure Emma uses in the handwoven Overshot table mats and table runner in her homeware collection. In a snood, the Overshot pattern creates a fabric with a slightly raised geometric surface character: the supplementary weft threads float over the warp in a repeating pattern, creating areas of colour block that read differently depending on which face of the snood is visible.
 
Wear different colours at the front
Because the snood’s colour distribution varies around its 74cm circumference, the colour balance at the front changes as the snood is rotated. This gives the snood practical versatility: it can be worn with the navy most visible to complement a dark outfit, or adjusted so the pale pastel faces forward for a lighter, softer effect against a pale top.
 
All-season and wool-free
Woven from 100% cotton, this snood is entirely wool-free - suitable for people who prefer cotton against the skin or who have wool sensitivities. The cotton doubleknit yarn is soft and comfortable at the neck in all seasons: warm enough for a cool day, light enough for spring and autumn.
