A handwoven navy, pink and teal merino snood with a checked and zig-zag pattern - infinity twist finish
 
This merino snood is woven by Emma Baker on a floor loom in Salisbury, Wiltshire in navy, pink and teal fine merino lambswool yarn. The large check pattern is created by the colour arrangement of the warp and weft threads - alternating blocks of colour intersect across the fabric to form the check grid, with a fine zig-zag detail running through the pattern that gives the surface additional texture and visual interest.
 
The infinity twist finish
After weaving, the fabric is sewn into a tube and given a single twist before the ends are joined - creating a figure-of-eight loop rather than a plain circle. The infinity twist means the snood drapes differently from a standard loop snood: it sits with a natural turn at the front of the neck, which adds a little structure to the way it wears without any effort from the wearer.
 
Two colour variants
Design A - Navy and Beige: the warp uses navy as the dominant colour with beige as the accent. The resulting check has a warm, traditional character - the beige softens the navy and creates a classic navy and neutral combination that works with a wide range of outfits.  
Design B - Navy and Teal: the warp uses navy as the dominant colour with teal as the accent. The teal gives the check a more contemporary, colour-led character — the navy and teal sit closely on the colour wheel and the combination has a richer, more dynamic feel than the beige variant.
