A handwoven merino snood in navy, pink, green and burgundy twill weave, made by Emma Baker in Salisbury, Wiltshire.
Woven on a Louet floor loom using fine merino lambswool, this snood adds a rich, colourful warmth to any outfit - a versatile piece that works across autumn, winter and spring.
What is twill weave?
Twill is a classic weave structure that creates diagonal lines across the fabric surface. In this snood, the twill design runs through each colour block, giving the finished piece a subtle, directional texture that catches the light differently from a plain weave. It is the same structure used in traditional tweeds and herringbone fabrics, and it gives the snood a refined, textile-quality appearance.

How it is made:
The fabric is woven on a Louet floor loom in a twill design using fine merino lambswool. Once woven, the fabric is removed from the loom and fulled (washed and consolidated) to bring out the softness of the merino fibres. It is then cut and sewn as an infinity snood with a hand-knitted fabric join.

How to care for a merino snood:
Sponge-wash small marks with a damp cloth. If a full wash is needed, hand wash very gently in hand-hot water with minimal agitation. Rinse once. Press between towels to remove excess water and dry flat, away from direct heat. Do not machine wash, wring or tumble dry.
