Three handwoven deflected doubleweave merino scarves - reversible, made by Emma Baker in Salisbury. Choose your colourway.

Each of these scarves is woven by Emma Baker on an 8-shaft floor loom in Salisbury, Wiltshire using a deflected doubleweave structure in fine merino lambswool. All three are one of a kind. All three are reversible. The three colourways - earthy pink, brown and beige; soft pink and beige; and rich pink, beige and burgundy are closely related but have distinct characters. Choose the palette that suits your wardrobe, or give the choice to the person you’re buying for.

What deflected doubleweave produces - and why these scarves are reversible

Deflected doubleweave is built on 8 shafts. The loom constructs two fabric layers at once, with the weft threads periodically deflected between the layers at controlled intervals. Each deflection pulls colour and structure from one face of the cloth to the other. The result is a fabric where the colour arrangement on the front face is genuinely different from the colour arrangement on the back face - not subtly different, but clearly different in balance and distribution. Both faces can be worn on the outside. These scarves give two distinct looks from a single piece of cloth.

Choose your colourway

Colourway A - Pink, Brown and Beige (190cm)  Soft pink, warm brown and quiet beige. The brown anchors the combination; the pink adds warmth rather than colour statement. Works naturally with cream, camel and charcoal. Earthy and grounded.

Colourway B - Pink and Beige (190cm)  The softest and most delicate of the three — pale pink and warm beige with no darker tone to anchor the palette. The beige dominates; the pink accents. Works with cream, off-white and light neutrals. The most understated option.

Colourway C - Pink, Beige and Burgundy (198cm)  The richest of the three. Burgundy deepens the palette and makes the pink and beige appear warmer and more saturated by contrast. Earthy, feminine and bolder. Works with charcoal, black, camel and rust. 8cm longer than the other two at 198cm.
